Are all your physicians board certified?

Yes, all our physicians have taken and passed the examination given by the American Board of Internal Medicine. All our physicians are board certified internists.

How long will it take me to get an appointment?

Same day appointments are available for acute illness for our established patients. If you call late in the day, we may have you come the next morning. New patient with acute illness will be seen the same day depending on the availability.

How do I get in contact with someone in an emergency?

If it is a life-threatening emergency always dial 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Please call our office during normal business hour and our staff will help you in any urgent situation, which is not life threatening. Our providers are always available after office hours. Instructions on how to reach the on-call provider are given when you call the clinic number after hours.

What insurance plans do you accept?

We participate in most commercial and Medicare insurance plans. Please visit the billing and insurance section of our website for more information. Call our office to inquire about your particular plan.

I’m scheduled for a physical. Will it be covered by my insurance?

Every insurance plan benefits for routine and preventive care vary with the plan. Please verify your benefits prior to services being rendered. Preventive services are usually covered according to certain guidelines for how frequently these can be provided. Remember that having an insurance card may not mean automatically that you have coverage for routine or preventive care.

When should I have a complete physical?

Our provider recommends an annual physical once every year. However, it is best if you contact your insurance and find out if you are covered for yearly physicals.

Do I need to send my old records to you prior to my first visit?

Old records are useful to have for patients with complicated health histories, but for the most part, old records are not necessary for the first visit.

What hospital affiliations do you have?

At this point of time our Physicians do not go to hospitals to see their patients who are admitted this will change in the future. However, you are welcome to go to any local hospital and our providers will contact the responsible hospitalists or ED doctor if needed.

How soon should I be seen after hospital discharge?

Following any hospital discharge, patients should be seen within 3 days

Who do I call if I have a question about my bill?

The business office can be reached at 469-983-5000. Please ask for the billing coordinator.

How do I get a referral to a specialist?

When you need to see a specialist, your provider will create a referral for you during your office visit. It takes 3-4 days to process the referral. Some insurance plans require us to obtain authorization prior to being referred to another Provider. If your plan requires this, we will contact your insurance company to request the authorization. If this is the case, please allow 7 business days for the referral process to be completed. Our referral coordinator will contact you once referral process is completed.

How do I get my lab results?

Lab results are available for viewing on our secure patient portal after your provider has reviewed them. If you do not have access to the patient portal please contact the office. If you do not have web access you may request a printed copy of your labs from your provider.

What do I do if I need a refill on a medication?

We try to process all refill requests within 24 hours but it may take up to 48 hours to process your refill request. You can request by calling our medical assistant.

What does Primary care involve?

Primary care involves the general medical requirements of patients. When visiting a health provider, a patient usually comes into contact with primary care providers first. A primary care provider diagnoses and treats illnesses at an early stage before the any disease or issues becomes more serious and threatening patients. Primary care officials also ensure that patients get the level of care that they desire.

What is the importance of Primary care?

Primary care is essential to general medical care in various ways. Some of these include:

  • Help find critical illnesses at an early stage- A patient with a primary care provider can detect serious diseases and issues during routine check-ups. The illness can, therefore, be treated at an early stage saving the patient from more serious issues and from more expensive procedures.
  • It saves money- early detection of diseases enables early treatment and therefore saves money that would have been used had the sickness progressed. Primary care prevents patients from unnecessarily visiting the emergency room which is more costly.
  • Saves time for by preventing patients with cases that are not urgent from making trips to the emergency room and wasting time for the health practitioners there. Offers a great opportunity for advice on how to take care of themselves. Primary care providers often know the complete medical history of their patients and can, therefore, provide good advice on how to lead a healthy lifestyle. They also know previous illnesses in the family and can put up preventive measures for such illnesses.
  • A primary care provider will refer you to other specialists for cases that are out of their field and also share information of your medical history with another health specialist. This is to ensure a patient gets the best treatment possible.
  • Help control existing illnesses- some diseases such as diabetes, cancer and heart conditions may be tiresome to manage on your own. A primary care provider will keep you up to date with your conditions and also ensure you attend routine check-ups.
  • Not only should sick people see a primary care provider but also those who think that they are healthy. Routine medical tests by a healthy person ensure that the person leads a healthy and happy lifestyle. It is therefore advisable that everyone, healthy or not seeks primary care for their safety.
